Description: perennial plant with long stems (15 - 30 cm). The leaves are alternate, simple linear-oblong, stiff leathery grey-white-green with recurved margins. Light pink flowers, 5 - 8 cm long, umbellate and bell-shaped, occurs in late spring or early summer.The fruit is in a small capsule containing numerous seeds.

Habitat: peaty soils.
 
 

Report about the reasons of the risk:  andromeda is became very sparse in high Ardennes, owing to the drainage of the soil.

Possible solutions:  Preservation of the peaty soil.
 
 
Culinary and/or medicinal properties:  
Andromeda contains toxine wich, when ingested, lowers blood pressure and may cause respiratory problems, dizziness, vomitry and diarrhoea.
